Sculptures with a second life

Kristian Saapunki combines scrap metal, wire, clay, and found objects into sculptures with character and story.

Sculptures that stand on their own, made from scrap, wire and clay.

Pieces made to hang on the wall, built from the same materials.

Gothenburg is my home and my inspiration. I walk its streets and harbors looking for discarded metal and forgotten objects, and give them a second life as sculptures.

I work with contrasts. Soft clay and hard metal are opposites, and it is in the meeting between them that things happen.
